My father tried it & found it was easier to use more passive natural therapies but he is old.
In my opinion, EFT will work for some people and not for others. I think it is more helpful for emotional issues (like anxiety, depression, PTSD, etc.) than for physical issues.
EFT was not helpful to me for major depression. I read of a psychologist who did a controlled study of EFT. One group received standard EFT. The other group were tapped on random parts of the body that had nothing to do with EFT or acupuncture meridians. The results were pretty interesting. The group that received EFT reported feeling stress reduction after several treatments. However, the group that received the completely random tapping reported even MORE stress reduction.
This study suggests that EFT and similar techniques are something of a placebo effect. The psychologist who ran the study calls it the law of expectancy. What you expect to happen is likely what will happen. If you really believe EFT will help, then it probably will.
Having said all that, if someone wants to try EFT, then it might be worthwhile to give it a try. You have little to lose. Gary Craig, the founder of EFT, is practically giving away lots of EFT info and techniques for free.
Some people might benefit from a course on EFT. However, there is so much you can learn from the free info at http://www.emofree.com. You can also google EFT for loads of info.
I suggest starting with the free stuff and going from there. If EFT seems to be helpful, you might want to invest in longer DVDs or courses.
Although it might sound obvious, I suggest staying in touch with medical professionals for problems that might be serious. Best wishes.
