Excellent thoughts on Paul and his journey to where he is today. I saw Paul’s first performance on BGT (via YouTube) a few hours after it was posted — before a lot of people had noticed him yet. It was one of the most touching moments of my life. It came on a day when I received some very bad news and Paul inspired me. Thank you for your insight; you are absolutely correct.
I thought this bogus information had died by now, but I guess not. Paul bought his own way to a seminar which Pavarotti attended. Pavarotti commented on Paul’s singing. That’s it. He never “trained” with Pav. He was a member of an amateur Opera Company in Wales and is on record saying he has never been paid for performing. None of that makes him a professional.
having training and actually able to deliver , and or perform are 2 different things . It took a great deal of nerve on Paul’s part , especially due to his conditioning in ealrlier years , But I am so pleased he finally stepped up at 40 yrs , old , he is brilliant, and I look forward to his debut album
I really hope Paul has the courage to go on with it, but I think he will since he’s got the opportunity now. Damn, he’s such a great singer and I’ve only heard him sing that Pavarotti classic.
The story is not a fraud, Paul hasn’t had lessons or sang for 4 years because of his bad health actually…
Wait a second. This man is working in a car phone store. He is now known around the world after ONE performance in which he impressed, moved, and endeared himself to millions. That’s about as close to fairytale as it gets in real life, stagfish, don’t you think? ;)
Stagfish…his story is better than a fairy tale & not fraudulent.I’m a musician,w/friends who’ve also PAID for lessons,workshops w/famous stars.Pavarotti offers comments,not teaching per se. Paul’s struggles to work retail,overcome injury & keep singing w/ passion are a true inspiration to many aspiring artists in the same situation.His story and theirs is genuine,regardless of TV spin. God Bless him.
opera has never done that to me before but paul just sings from the depths of his soul and it clearly shows… lets see his bullies laugh now!

cheers for that… even though he’s a brilliant singer, he was still lacking confidence because years ago he was bullied as a child. Begs the question… what if he hadn’t been bullied…were would he be now? Maybe, just maybe the bullies made him who he is today because when he was bullied at school, he would just go and sing it out! We all do not realize the good that sometimes comes out of bad. Think about it :O)

Well of course he’s an educated singer! You don’t think he just started singing like that out of the blue? All of the contenders have practiced and trained probably most of their lives so what’s the big deal if Paul has trained with the best. He was’nt making any money out of it so yeah nobody cares about his training. He deserved to win and that’s all the people care about.
I thought that it was quite an amazing story until word spread that Paul is actually an educated singer and was a pupil of Luciano Pavarotti. I dont know how this is actually documented in Britain but as far as I can see on Youtube nobody seems to care. It`s the way they presented this story and kept on doing so that makes it quite a fraud just to create this fairytale that attracts the people and the viewer levels…
