Women Achieving Work Life Balance for Freedom and Happiness
Achieving work life balance in our fast paced society is difficult if not impossible for many women. Women unhappy in marriage, midlife crisis women, and women juggling careers and family need balance in their lives to experience happiness, a sense of freedom, and to enjoy guilt free personal time.
One of my favorite quotes is by Audre Lorde. “Caring for myself is not self-indulgence. It is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare.” Nurturing is a priceless gift, but we must be full in order to give to others. To be full means nurturing ourselves to achieve balance in our lives. If we are constantly giving, our bodies are drained of our life force energy. Humorist, Loretta LaRoche said that we should put the following epitaph on our tombstones, “got everything done, died anyway”!
We don’t have to die to get a rest. Make the time to care for your needs. To be in balance, we must address all five aspects of ourselves. We must address our needs in the emotional, physical, mental, spiritual, & sexual aspects.
Our emotions need to flow freely to be in balance with life. Emotions are energy in motion. Too often, we hold onto our emotions allowing them to stagnate in our bodies causing added pain. Connect with them; allow them to move through and out of the body. Sometimes speaking them is needed, and other times just feeling them and moving them through the body is enough.
Physically to be in balance we need to hold and transform energy with the body. The body is much like a battery needing a balanced input of energy to equal the amount of energy output with a surplus to spare. Take the time to re-energize your body with an activity that is enjoyable and that benefits your body physically. The body was created to move, and our sedentary lifestyle does not energize the body. Energy creates energy.
To be in balance mentally is to receive with an open mind without prejudice or judgment. The prevalent pattern in our society is to determine with the mind. We need to be an empty cup receiving information allowing it to filter into the body gradually.
Spiritual balance is achieved by determining with passion. Spirit directs what the mind receives. Spirit is the fire within us. Are you living your passion?
Sexuality has been separated from spirituality in our lives. Your sexual life force energy is the catalyst that transforms your life. It is this prime energy mover that identifies us as spiritual beings in human form. Our orgasticness sparks our creativity, opens our heart to experience heart to heart communication, and increases our level of wellness.
Reflect on how you run your energy. Create activities that will assist you in being in alignment. Give with your emotions, hold and transform with your body, receive with your mind, determine with spirit, and catalyze with sexual soul force energy. Humans are determiners of energy; we have choice. Give yourself the gift of a focused, relaxed life free of stress with enough energy to accomplish whatever it is you want to do.
